FlightLab Changelog
Release notes for FlightLab
v1.2.405
2026-10-01
Fixed
- A flight’s recorded time stays the clock where it happened, instead of shifting to the time zone of whoever is looking at it.
- The same flight downloaded on two phones shows up once, even if the phones calculated a different apogee or sample count.
v1.2.401
2026-09-08
Added
- Print to PDF. A new Print button on the flight page creates a PDF flight report that looks the same everywhere, ready to print or send. It includes the flight's headline numbers, whichever charts you have turned on, the flight details table, and your notes. Choose to fit everything on one page (a large altitude chart with the other charts tiled beneath it) or use full-width charts across several pages, pick color or black & white, Letter or A4, portrait or landscape. The PDF opens in a new tab and can be saved from the dialog.
- Print a Flight Comparison. The comparison page has a Print button too: the overlaid charts you have open, a legend of the flights, and the side-by-side stats table, on one page or in full detail.
- Print a Flight Log. On My Flights, Print creates a log of the flights you have selected, or of every flight matching your current filters and sort. Add notes and performance columns if you like; the log shows totals across the top and repeats its column headings on every page.
- Share flights with a group. Groups are now a list of people and the flights they choose to share with each other. Select flights on My Flights (or open any flight) and choose Share to group; members can then open the flight, see its chart and details, and include it in comparisons. Your flight stays yours: nothing is copied, nothing changes in the app on your phone, and you can withdraw a flight from a group at any time from the "Shared with" chips on the flight page.
- Group kinds and visibility. Mark a group as a Club, Class, Project, Contest, or Other. Choose who can find and join it: Private (invite only), Password (anyone with the password), or Public (any FlightLab user can look and join). Owners can freeze membership or new flights at any time, handy when a contest closes, and can add people directly by email, transfer ownership, and see who shared what.
- Compare a whole group. Each group's Flights tab ranks every shared flight by apogee, duration, speed, and more, with the pilot's name beside each one. Compare all opens them together in Flight Comparison.
- Display name. Choose the name other group members see next to your flights in Settings › Display name. Until you do, FlightLab uses the part of your email before the @. Members never see your email address; only the group's owner does.
Fixed
- Chart labels (Apogee, Descent Starts, custom markers) were nearly invisible in Monochrome and several other themes. The title now uses the same readable text color as the rest of the page.
Changed
- Flight Comparisons handle many more flights. A comparison can now hold up to 200 flights. Instead of one long list, the Flights panel is a ranked table you can sort by apogee, duration, max speed, peak acceleration, date, or pilot, with a checkbox to choose which flights are drawn on the charts (up to 24 at a time; Top 12 / Top 24 / None shortcuts). Flight Details follows the same order and keeps its row labels in view as you scroll sideways. Charts get 24 distinct colors so large comparisons stay readable.
- Flight Details on a flight page can be collapsed so the charts sit higher. The section starts open; if you close it, FlightLab remembers that until you open it again.
- The left menu now has its own color in every theme, giving it a little separation from the page body (a light grey panel in Monochrome). Custom themes can set the sidebar background and menu text independently.
- Paper is the new default look. FlightLab now opens in the warm, light Paper theme unless you have chosen something else; if you already picked a theme, nothing changes. Ember, the original dark look, is still one tap away in Settings › Appearance, and Auto now switches between Paper and Ember with your device setting. The theme list is reordered with light themes first.
v1.2.393
2026-09-01
Added
- Themes. Settings now has an Appearance card with nine looks to choose from — Ember (the original dark/orange), Midnight, Nord, Aviator, High Contrast, Daylight, Paper, Solarized Light, and Monochrome — plus Auto, which follows your device’s light or dark setting. Every theme keeps chart curves easy to tell apart, including for color-blind viewers; Monochrome and High Contrast also use dashed line styles.
- Custom themes. Start from any theme and adjust every color on one page: backgrounds, text, accents, flight-mode badges, all twelve chart series, chart grid and tooltips, line thickness and fill. The page previews live as you edit, with contrast and “can I tell these lines apart?” checks (including color-vision simulation). Copy the theme as text to share it with another tester.
- Your theme choice is saved to your account and follows you across devices and browsers when you are signed in.
- Chart legends on flight and comparison pages now show a short line sample (color and dash pattern) instead of a colored dot.
v1.2.387
2026-08-14
Added
- FlightLab is now included free with an AltimeterThree. Connect your altimeter in the AltimeterThree app once and your membership activates automatically — no subscription needed, and shared club or classroom altimeters give every member their own free membership. Web-only members can still subscribe for $2/month. See the new pricing page for details.
- Rocket and Water Rocket Burnout / End of Thrust chart annotations now include max speed (in your selected speed units) when a valid value exists.
Fixed
- Flight detail Edit button opens the metadata editor again.
- Flight pages refresh correctly after updates (avoids stuck cached pages in Safari).
- Very long flights (over an hour of recorded data) no longer show a "Maximum call stack size exceeded" error when viewing charts.
- Chart marker labels with multiple lines (like ejection time and altitude) display on separate lines again instead of running together.
- Apogee and other automatic chart labels stay inside the altitude chart and no longer stack on top of each other (labels you drag yourself are unchanged).
- Ejection, Descent Rate, and Landing Rate labels show again on rocket altitude charts (a layout pass could previously push them off-screen).
v1.2.375
2026-06-23
Fixed
- Apogee to Eject now displays 0.00 s when ejection occurs at apogee (manual entry, flight details, compare, and edit).
- AltimeterTwo now allows negative (early) apogee-to-ejection values.
- Subscribe page shows clearer messages for common checkout outcomes (already subscribed, canceled checkout, sign-in expired, billing unavailable) with Go to FlightLab instead of raw error codes.
- Returning from Stripe after payment shows a welcome banner; marketing pages say Open FlightLab instead of Open app.
v1.2.370
2026-06-20
Added
- Flight Comparisons — save multi-flight overlays with per-flight time shifting, chart markers on any series and datapoint (with draggable labels), and charts for altitude, velocity, climb/sink, acceleration, and pressure. Use the new Flight Comparisons tab, or select flights on My Flights and choose Compare Flights or Save as comparison. Flight detail pages show which comparisons include a flight and let you add it to an existing comparison.
- Compare Flights on My Flights — overlay altitude curves from two or more flights on one chart with a side-by-side stats table. AltimeterTwo manual entries without altitude charts still appear in the comparison table.
- Altimeter Cloud Nano CSV import — import Nano V1 logs with original timing, raw altitude charts, launch-at-t=0 charting, and Nano settings preserved in notes.
- AltimeterTwo manual entry with a feet/meters toggle matching the device review screens.
- Firmware updates for AltimeterThree — connected altimeters can discover and download updates online.
- Acceleration charts now use pad-vector correction so rest reads about 1 G with orientation visible; rocket burn and speed analysis still uses full motion correction.
- Flight detail Download CSV for raw pressure, altitude, and acceleration samples.
Changed
- Firmware and hardware versions now always show two-digit minors (for example 4.08, HW308).
- Flight detail chart labels can be dragged; built-in annotations and custom markers remember their positions.
- Charts use round time ticks with zero included, show a few seconds of pad data before launch and after landing, and leave headroom above apogee.
- My Flights labels the top altitude stat Max Altitude. Raw CSV exports include elapsed time and unit headers.
Fixed
- Early ejection now shows as a negative Apogee to Eject value (for example -1.25 s early) in flight details, compare, AltimeterTwo manual entry, and edits.
- Nano imports keep each row's original CSV timing; repair re-imports stored Nano CSVs to fix flights imported before this change.
- Rocket apogee is less likely to be inflated by ejection pressure spikes or short artifacts near the top of the flight.
- Flight comparison charts now include imported Nano altitude curves.
- Date filters on My Flights search the full selected day. After import, View flight opens in the same tab.
v1.2.296
2026-06-01
Added
- Settings now lets you choose display units independently for altitude, max speed, descent rate, landing rate, climb rate, and sink rate. Flight lists, flight sets, detail pages, chart labels, and chart annotations follow those choices without changing stored flight data.
Changed
- FlightLab no longer shows the placeholder Analysis Library menu item until there is useful library content to open.
v1.2.291
2026-06-01
Added
- FlightLab no longer shows or asks for a separate Motor field; motor details can be kept in notes and found through normal notes search.
- FlightLab and mobile app now share the same flight analysis code.
- Altitude charts now include an optional raw altitude overlay drawn on top of the corrected curve, making it easier to compare the cleaned chart against original altitude data.
- Flight charts now include a Total Accel option that combines X, Y, and Z acceleration into one magnitude line.
- Imported 3-axis acceleration is now stored in a device-neutral G-based format for more reliable charts, analysis, and AI exports.
- FlightLab can import ZetaPost, FlightSketch Mini, and FlightSketch Comp files as full rocket-analysis flights with richer chart data.
- Imported velocity data now appears in its own chart below the altitude chart when available.
- Rocket flight charts now show burn/thrust overlays, recovery annotations, editable custom markers, and richer rocket metadata.
- My Flights now includes richer search and filter controls for finding flights faster.
- Share with AI now starts with a mode-aware FlightLab analysis guide, embeds a graph-ready altitude preview in the normal JSON, and includes compact altitude-curve JSON links so AI tools can graph real flight data.
- Share with AI now also exposes graph-ready 3-axis acceleration arrays and a dedicated acceleration JSON link so AI tools can inspect burn timing from Ax/Ay/Az data.
- Share with AI now includes compact raw-data proof summaries for AI tools that hide full arrays, including sample counts, first rows, sample interval, raw altitude peak, raw total-G peak, and high-acceleration interval estimates.
- FlightLab version links now open the changelog in a new tab, preserving your current page.
Changed
- Corrected rocket altitude curves now keep acceleration-trusted boost shaping but switch to a concave-down coast after burnout, so the graph shows the rocket slowing toward apogee instead of appearing to speed up after thrust ends.
- Rocket and water-rocket descent correction now uses a robust post-apogee low-pass filter that damps quick tumbling pressure excursions without forbidding slow thermal/updraft trends.
- Rocket and water-rocket analysis now builds corrected altitude curves that reduce launch jumps, pressure spikes, and recovery artifacts while preserving raw data for comparison.
- Rocket flight repair now validates launch from a stable pre-launch ground window and acceleration onset, reducing long false ground-data leads caused by slow pressure drift.
Fixed
- Fixed a Railway schema issue that could prevent My Flights from loading.
- Fixed acceleration chart values that could appear far too high because of byte-order handling, including imported flights saved before this fix.
- Fixed My Flights pagination so the Show 200 option can display 200 flights and keep Next enabled when more flights exist.
- Fixed edited FlightLab flight dates so imported/manual flight time changes persist consistently when reopening the edit form.
- Fixed the altitude chart so raw altitude can be shown by itself after hiding corrected altitude.
v1.2.259
2026-05-27
Added
- FlightLab version numbers now open this changelog.
- Settings now includes a full flight backup download for your account.
- You can create temporary AI share links for individual flights, selected flights, or flight sets.
- You can save and share groups of flights as Flight Sets.
Changed
- Improved behind-the-scenes release and cloud-sync reliability work.
Fixed
- Reduced cases where replayed sync operations could create duplicate cloud flights.
